QVC to Acquire Social-Commerce Company Oodles

WEST CHESTER, Pa.-QVC, through its subsidiary California Voices, has signed an agreement to purchase Oodles, a social-commerce company that runs the Oodle Marketplace application on mobile devices.

The application is a marketplace in which users buy, sell and give gifts to people in their local communities. It has more than 11 million unique monthly users, and is available on Oodle, Facebook and the iPhone, iPad, iTouch and Android devices.

A QVC statement on the acquisition, which is expected to close by Dec. 31, did not provide a dollar figure for the deal. Claire Watts, CEO of QVC U.S., said the deal "can fuel our evolving social-commerce experience. Oodle brings a great team that shares our values and passion for creating a rich customer experience."
