Target Taps Jones to Lead Marketing

MINNEAPOLIS-Jeffrey Jones II has been named executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Target, succeeding Michael Francis, who left the mass merchant last October to become president of J.C. Penney.
Jones has thus assumed responsibility over Target's marketing strategy, development and execution. He reports directly to Gregg Steinhafel, chairman, president and CEO. Steinhafel said, "Marketing is a key differentiator for Target, and I am confident that under Jeff's stewardship, we will continue to build on our long history of surprising and delighting our guests."
Before joining Target, Jones was partner and president of McKinney, an advertising agency based in Durham, N.C. He also served in a variety of executive roles with Gap Inc. (including executive vice president and chief marketing officer), marchFirst, Coca-Cola, Leo Burnett Worldwide and LB Works.
