The new Terrell collection includes an acrylic plush rug with a matching shower curtain and bath accessories.
For this month's New York Home Fashions Market, Creative Home Ideas will offer more than new rug designs, unveiling full collections for the kitchen and bathroom to make decorating a snap for consumers.
"We've done really well in stand-alone rugs in the accent and bath categories," said Yaron Shemesh, executive vice president. Now, the company will expand its coordinate programs for both the kitchen and bathroom. "It will be a big push at market," he said. "People have a hard time mixing and matching," and this makes it easy for them.
This year also marks Creative Home Ideas' 30th anniversary in business, as Shemesh's father begin the business in 1981.
For this New York market, showing in suite #1714 in 295 Fifth Avenue, the company will unveil 20 new designs in the bath category, and bath ensembles will include tufted and printed rugs with matching shower curtains, shower curtain hooks and bath accessories. And while beiges remain an important color group for this area, Shemesh said that "brights have taken on a new life of their own" as well.
The company launched its kitchen category two years ago, Shemesh said, and "it's really taken off. There was a void in the marketplace." The category is now about a third of Creative Home Ideas' business. While roosters, fruits, florals and coffee remain popular themes in the kitchen, there is also more requests for inspirational words, he added. In color trends, beiges and barn reds perform well, as do black and silver, which coordinates with consumers' stainless steel appliances. At market, it will expand its tufted kitchen rug line with new textures, constructions and yarns.
In its accent rug area, the company will highlight more than 100 new designs, in such constructions as cut and loop, frieze and shags. There is also "more mixing of different colors together," Shemesh added.
In the beginning, the company initially produced product in Turkey, but then moved to China to increase volume, and now owns its factory there. It has a warehouse in Edison, N.J.
