Christies Mughal CarpetFollowing in Vanderbilt's Footsteps

Once owned by American industrialist Cornelius Vanderbilt II, this rare Millefleur "star-lattice" carpet is being auctioned off by Christie's this month. Vanderbilt displayed it first in his New York City home before moving it to the master bedroom in his Newport, R.I. mansion. It is expected to sell between approximately $2.5-$3.1 million.
