ATLANTA-Flatweaves, printed looks and new licenses were all part of the introductions seen at the Atlanta International Area Rug Market, which ended on Sunday.

Among the new licenses that debuted was American Rug Craftsmen's first standalone licensed collection with Woolrich. "It has a fairly broad appeal," said Brandon Culpepper, vice president, Mohawk Home. "It will fill a niche." Made of polypropylene, the line includes lodge, Americana looks.

Flatweaves remain hot, and many manufacturers debuted new collections and expansions. For some companies, the category was new altogether, such as Oriental Weavers, which debuted its first flatweaves in its new Pantone-licensed line. Called Matrix, it is made of wool in India and comes in two- and three-color designs. A 5-by-8 will retail for $299.

Kaleen also delved into flatweaves for the first time with its Nomad collection, which contains tribal looks with pops of color. Several of the 20 designs have borders on two sides.

Capel also debuted new designs in its Williamsburg license, including Tanjib, a flatweave that combines wool with five percent silk. Available in four colors, it will retail for $399 for a 5-by-8.

Printed flatwoven designs were among Kas Rugs' introductions, in a new collection called Serafina. The rugs are reversible, with two different designs on each side and in the same color group. A 5-by-8 will retail for $299.

Microfiber was also a popular fiber among introductions, and Amer Rugs debuted its first group, in two collections: Cozy, a shag in six colorways that will retail for $399 for a 5-by-8, and Cosmopolitan, which has designs screen printed in China and will retail for $249. Both collections had a "great response," said Tanuj Gupta, president of sales and marketing.
