LAS VEGAS-Added details, such as handcrafted looks and metallics, are among the highlights of rug introductions at Las Vegas Market this week, along with the important themes of natural materials and color. New licensed collections also debuted.

Feizy released the colorful Gustevia rug collection, which is an extension of its successful Brixton and Bleecker lines. "We saw a need for brighter colors," said Cameron Feizy, senior vice president. It also unveiled the reversible Cosmo line, which is made of bamboo and tufted on one side with a jacquard design on the other.

Musical icon Donny Osmond and his wife Debbie were on hand at the Kas Rugs showroom yesterday to help celebrate the launch of the new Donny Osmond Home line.

Jaipur also launched a licensed line with designer Jennifer Adams, who was in the showroom yesterday to show her new collection of rugs, pillows and poufs. Most of the rugs are transitional, handtufted designs, but there are a few handknotted items as well.

Natural materials remain strong, and at Feizy that includes several new handknotted jute collections, including Neele and a jute-and-sari silk combination called Tortole.

Rizzy Home introduced its first jute line in a few years with a wool and jute collection called Ellington. Another new release called Southwest contains the Aztec and geometric styles people want for an easy-living lifestyle, said Mark Ferullo, vice president. Southwest is tufted of New Zealand wool.

Surya expanded its naturals as well, including Boca, made with 60 percent jute and 40 percent polyester, and Laurel, constructed of 80 percent jute and 20 percent cotton. Other looks include felted wool in a collection called Thread that has a handcrafted feel.

Saddleman's has expanded its cowhide collection with four new colors in its metallic Devore line, including two black designs and two in different shades of gray. In addition, Puzzle is an item where several cowhides can be sewn together in any size, with or without a leather border. Its natural cowhide line is also now offered with leather borders.

Harounian brought the new Ambiance rug line to market. A blend of 80 percent wool and 20 percent viscose, the line offers three handknotted designs. Since viscose is a "fragile fiber," said Greg Jordt, executive vice president, sales and marketing, "we'll do more blends going forward." The new line was really well received, he said.
