PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.-Safavieh has expanded its category coverage with designer Thom Filicia to include lighting, which launches at Las Vegas Market. The launch also signals Safavieh's first step in the fixed lighting category.

Filicia's launch with Safavieh includes 14 designs in multiple colorways for a total of 35 SKUs in shapes, materials and textures that reflect the designer's classic yet fresh approach to what he has dubbed, "The New American Aesthetic."

On Monday, Jan. 27, in its showroom, A-101, Safavieh will host a Q&A session with Filicia from 11:30 a.m. to noon, during which he will be interviewed by Gretchen Aubuchon, founder of Fashion + Decor, about the collection and the importance of lighting to a room's ambiance. Afterwards, Safavieh will host a luncheon at the showroom from 12-1 p.m. Filicia will be available for photo ops and to sign copies of his book, "American Beauty: Renovating and Decorating a Beloved Retreat," from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

"Thom is an icon in the interior design community: his style adds a unique new perspective to our lighting collection and to the lighting industry as a whole," Arash Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal. "We are excited to bring this collaboration to the marketplace. Thom's concept of democracy of design--high style and quality at accessible prices--will resonate with consumers in lighting as it has with his rug collection for Safavieh since 2009."

Filicia added, "I'm thrilled to expand Thom Filicia Home into lighting and for the opportunity to share my point of view at the premiere in Las Vegas. Safavieh has brought to life my vision for the collection: Product that is beautiful; design that's intelligent. It's about texture, form, and impeccable attention to detail. My goal with this lighting line was to create a collection that is both exceptional and accessible; a custom designer look that is sophisticated yet approachable and will appeal to a broad base of consumers."

Safavieh stepped into the lighting category two years ago with table and floor lamps.
