AmericasMart Atlanta Establishes Home/Rug Floor; Four Hands to Anchor

Change is coming to the fourth floor of AmericasMart Atlanta's Building 1, as AmericasMart will incorporate home furnishings exhibitors into the formerly all-rug floor. Anchoring the rebranded floor will be Four Hands, the supplier of upholstery, case goods, accents, lighting and rugs. The new floor will be unveiled at the next Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, Jan. 9-16, 2013.

"As retailers across the board carry more product categories to accommodate the way consumers shop now, we want to ensure our market center meets their changing needs," Tammy Trout, executive director of marketing communications, told HFN. "We're working with our exhibitors to determine the best way for them to present their complete collections to diverse buyers. Many of our home rep showrooms already carry a rug line as part of the product mix. Our floor make-up will evolve to capitalize on that opportunity for both our home and our rug exhibitors."

Four Hands will be relocated to 4-A-1, a 12,000-square-foot showroom. In addition, AmericasMart is "working with several new home decor exhibitors to establish new showrooms in Atlanta, as well as some of our current home exhibitors to create satellite showrooms to extend their accessibility to our buyers," Trout said.

The mix of companies already located on Floor 4 and the available space for Four Hands makes that floor "perfect for integrating home and rug [exhibitors]," she said.  "Four Hands on Four resonates with buyers to ensure the message is clear. As with all our floors, the mix on that floor will grow and develop along with the exhibitors' collections."

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
