PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.-Safavieh is set to expand its outdoor category at the summer markets, with plans to introduce patio sets and outdoor accent pillows at Las Vegas Market, as well as expand its outdoor rug offerings at the Atlanta International Rug Market next week.

At AmericasMart in Atlanta, where it shows in space 5-A-2, Safavieh it will add 20 new designs to its flagship Courtyard collection of outdoor rugs, as well as launch the Beach House, Four Seasons and Veranda collections.

"We have tracked continued steady growth with our outdoor rugs throughout the recession, and are projecting even greater consumer demand in 2013," said Arash Yaraghi, Safavieh principal. "Our goal with the new collections in Atlanta is to show there is no limit to the design potential we can offer consumers who are not about to sacrifice design integrity for an easy care lifestyle. They want both."

With 30 patterns, the new Four Seasons hand-hooked collection has large loops creating painterly floral motifs from traditional chintz designs to suzani patterns. In a four-color antiqued version of the company's three-color Courtyard collection, the new Beach House collection will launch with 12 traditional Oriental carpet designs, including Oushak, Peshawar and Sumack motifs. Another version of the sisal-look Courtyard collection, the Veranda collection features a large loop and soft hand more like that of indoor rugs, the company said, and includes 15 transitional and contemporary patterns.

The company's first outdoor pillow line will consist of a solid color program based on seven best-selling outdoor cushion colors. The pillows have a fiber-fill and are covered in a weather-resistant, UV-protected polyester fabric.

In Las Vegas Market, which starts July 30, Safavieh will debut its first set of outdoor furniture with an initial launch of several patio sets and outdoor chair sets.
