LAS VEGAS-Rug companies at last week's Las Vegas Market used the market to bolster their indoor/outdoor collections as well as delve into new categories and areas to target particular niches. Several new licensed collections also debuted.
Oriental Weavers, which recently added its Pantone licensed line, expanded on its indoor/outdoor category with the addition of Riviera, which consists of simple geometric patterns and is made in Egypt. The company now has six indoor/outdoor collections totalling more than 240 patterns.
Surya debuted a new indoor/outdoor collection that comprises coordinating rugs, pillows, poufs and wall art, all of which is made in the U.S. The collection has almost 130 pillows alone. The company also debuted its new 30,000 square-foot showroom, and new rug collections such as a high-end printed rug line called Bluebellgray, which is machine-made of wool and includes ombre and painterly effects.
United Weavers also added a frisee collection called Townshend, a polypropylene line made in Turkey that featured double pointing and hand carving. The 32 designs include plaids, medallions, abstracts and lodge looks.
Rizzy changed the color creel for its Sorrento collection to utilize golds, grays and blues. "It added warmth," said Teresa Parris, creative and visual manager. "It's more retail friendly now." Patterns include patchwork, contemporary and medallion designs. Another new line, Cosmo, is a handtufted polyester shag with thin and thick yarns with such patterns as stripes, fun florals and solids.
Noble House debuted its full range with B. David Levine, an architectural, industrial, interior and furniture designer. The three collections are all handtufted wool, with some using viscose as well. Allure is an all-loop geometric line, Horizon is a modern and bright cut pile line and Opal is a wool and viscose line with modern designs.
