PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.-Based on the success of its dhurrie rug introduction a year ago, Safavieh will launch a series of table lamps and rug ottomans incorporating its best-selling dhurrie designs at this month's markets. The new accessories will be displayed in the company's new furniture and accessories showroom in Atlanta's AmericasMart, space 5-C-1, which is across from its rug showroom, as well as at Las Vegas Market in space A-101. Thirty new dhurrie rug designs will also be introduced.
"Our retail customers have been encouraging us to integrate successful patterns and colors from our rug collections into new categories, and this is our first collection to do that in a major way," said Cyrus Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal.
The ceramic lamp collection features three dhurrie designs, each with a different gourd shape and in eight colorways, for a total of 72 SKUs. Designs include Chevron, a single gourd lamp with an extra-long neck, Moroccan Trellis, which has a base of three gourds graduating in size, and Cross Hatch, a double-gourd form. All dhurrie lamps have an MSRP of $499 for a set of two.
Dhurrie rug ottomans include eight designs, among them Moorish Tile, Cross Hatch, Chevron and Moroccan Trellis. The ottomans, upholstered in the dhurrie rugs, have a birch wood frame and round bun feet in a cherry finish. The MSRP for a dhurrie ottoman is $1,300.
Safavieh will also introduce 30 new dhurrie rugs in tone-on-tone stripes, multi-color contemporary geometrics, classic trellis designs and Moroccan motifs. A 5-by-8 will retail for $440.
In addition, buyers are invited to breakfast, lunch and afternoon happy hour daily in the main showroom at both the Atlanta and Las Vegas markets.
