Casual Furniture Strengthened at High Point With Agio Debut

HIGH POINT, N.C.-The presence of casual furniture at the High Point Market continues to grow with the addition of new exhibitor Agio International Co., which will make its debut in Showplace for the April 21-26 event.

At the upcoming market, Agio will exhibit in an 1,834-square-foot showroom in Showplace, space 1512.  In addition, Agio will provide outdoor sets for attendees at the Sunset on 3 hospitality events being held on Showplace's third-floor balcony during market.

"We are coming to High Point because we know there are indoor retailers who are ready to enter or expand their offerings in the outdoor casual category," said Bob Gaylord, president of Agio-USA. "If an indoor retailer is ready to make the jump into outdoor, or increase their offerings in the category, we want to be there to discuss the opportunity with them. High Point provides a perfect venue to introduce ourselves and our line."

Casual furniture and accessories are steadily strengthening their presence at the High Point Market, with at least 50 companies offering products in these categories at the spring show. Among the producers showing outdoor furnishings are well-known brands such as Barlow Tyrie, Brown Jordan, Lane Venture, Lloyd/Flanders, Telescope and Woodard.

"We have seen more and more traditional furniture and home decor retailers coming to High Point specifically looking for products to enhance their offerings in the outdoor/casual segment," said Julie Messner, vice president of leasing for International Market Centers. "In turn, over the last few years we have seen an influx of casual manufacturers showing in High Point in order to reach this distribution channel."

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
