Former TJX Exec Joins Burlington Board

Harounian Rugs adds sales reps; Steinreich Communications names new head of High Point office

CareerMoves20163x2NEW YORK—Ted English, former president and CEO of The TJX Cos. and current executive chairman of Bob’s Discount Furniture, joined the Burlington Stores board, while Harounian Rugs International added sales reps to its team and Steinreich Communications named a new president.

English worked for TJX from 1983 to 2005 in a variety of merchandising and executive positions. He joined Bob’s the following year as CEO and served in that capacity until his appointment as executive chairman in March of this year.

Rug resource Harounian Rugs International added two people to its national sales force: Lynn Edmeyer and David John Appelt. Covering Northern California, Edmeyer has been representing high-end manufacturers in the home furnishings industry to furniture retailers, designers and trade showrooms for many years. David John Appelt will be representing HRI in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. He is a rug industry veteran with more than 20 years of sales experience serving mid- to high-end furniture stores, rug retailers, trade showrooms and design firms.

Sheila Long O’Mara has been named head of the High Point, N.C., office of Steinreich Communications, which performs communications services for a number of companies in the home furnishings industry. O’Mara will succeed Karen McNeill, who will leave the firm at the end of the month. In her new role, she will oversee the firm’s local employees and continue working with the firm’s home furnishings clients. Prior to joining the company, O’Mara served as editor-in-chief of Home Furnishings Business and in editorial positions for HFN sister publications Furniture|Today and Kids Today, and for the Greensboro, N.C., News & Record and the Elkin, N.C., Tribune.
