Louie Blumkin Dies

OMAHA, Neb.-Louie Blumkin, longtime head of Nebraska Furniture Mart and son of founder Rose "Mrs. B" Blumkin, died on Tuesday at 93.

Blumkin, a World War II veteran, worked at the company for more than 75 years and headed the company for more than 40 years. The Blumkin family sold a majority interest of the business to Berkshire Hathaway in 1983.

Blumkin is survived by his wife Frances, three sons, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled at Beth El Synagogue here at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
