Gift Fair to Highlight "Green" Products in SustainAbility Display

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-Nearly 250 eco-friendly products will be featured in the "SustainAbility: design for a better world" exhibit during the upcoming New York International Gift Fair, according to a statement from GLM, the trade show's owner and manager.

The display will encompass products from 133 companies, which were accepted after meeting the criteria for this section. Exhibitors in the section will include those with eco-friendly products and production processes that exclude certain types of environmental pollutants, and those who have adopted socially responsible, philanthropic or fair trade-oriented business practices.

In addition, a session called "It's Easy Being Green--Just Ask the Experts!" will be held on Aug. 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, one of the Gift Fair's venues. Moderated by Susan Szenasy, editor-in-chief of Metropolis magazine, the panel will discuss environmentally friendly and socially responsible best practices.

Also, retailers will be given the opportunity to vote for the most innovative and environmentally responsible products within the SustainAbility display. Winners will receive the Eco Choice Award in three categories: most innovative, most sensitive use of materials and most sellable. The awards, sponsored by the Gift Fair and GREENRetailer, will be announced at the conclusion of the show.
