Cheryl Heinonen Named EVP at Macy’s

Avon executive set to oversee Macy’s corporate communications

CareerMoves20163x2NEW YORK-Cheryl Heinonen was named executive vice president of corporate communications for Macy’s Inc., effective Jan. 9, 2017. Heinonen will be responsible for internal and external corporate communications, corporate giving, corporate social responsibility, diversity and associate giving and volunteerism. She will report to Macy’s President Jeff Gennette, who becomes CEO early next year.

Heinonen is currently senior vice president, corporate relations and chief communications officer at Avon Products, a post she will leave on Jan. 1. Prior to joining Avon, Heinonen was managing director at Burson-Marsteller, a global communications agency.

Thurman K. Case, CFO and vice president of Cirrus Logic, was appointed to the Helen of Troy board of directors, effective Jan. 1. Case will fill the vacancy created by the previously announced resignation of Alexander M. Davern from the board, effective March 31. As Cirrus Logic’s CFO, Case is responsible for the company’s international finance, investor relations, purchasing and worldwide real estate/facilities teams. “Thurman’s deep financial and operational experience in global businesses will be invaluable to Helen of Troy as we continue to grow both organically and through accretive acquisition,” said Timothy F. Meeker, Helen of Troy’s chairman.

Durham Furniture has inducted two of its employees the 25 Year Club, an annual service award that recognizes employees with 25 years of service or more. Royden Paylor, operator in the machine mill department, and Richard Cutting, finishing sander in Mill 4, were honored during a recent awards ceremony, bringing the total number of members to 28. Durham’s 25 Year Club was launched in 1995.
