Gourmet Catalog: Year Off to a Good Start

Gourmet CatalogDALLAS-Gourmet Catalog & Buying Group said its annual Start the Year Member Conference, held earlier this month during the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, was one of its best so far.

"We have heard such encouraging feedback from both store members and vendors on what a great event it was. Seeing everyone with a positive outlook for 2015 was encouraging and heartwarming," said Janis Johnson, president and founder of the housewares buying group.

The two-day, members-only conference focuses on networking, new product introductions, sales demonstrations and learning opportunities for members. "We were especially impressed by how willing the other retailers were to share ideas and offer solutions to each other," said Suzanne Lane from Gray Goose Cookery in Old Mystic, Conn., in a statement issued by Gourmet Catalog. "It is a very supportive atmosphere."

An exclusive all-day product showcase on Thursday drew a record number of vendor lines, Gourmet Catalog said. Store members had access to GC company presidents and top executives from 180 of the group's vendor members, and included a sneak peek at a few new products making a debut ahead of the March International Home + Housewares Show.
