Gourmet Catalog's Summer School Draws Record Attendance in Atlanta

DALLAS-Gourmet Catalog & Buying Group celebrated record attendance at its third annual Retail Summer School and Party in the Kitchen event held during the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Show earlier this month.

"Gourmet Catalog is extremely pleased at the overwhelming turnout of both store and vendor members at our exclusive Party in the Kitchen and Retail Summer School events," said Nikki Johnson, chief financial officer of Gourmet Catalog. "We cannot thank our sponsors enough for providing such a memorable experience for our members."

During Retail Summer School, vendor representatives and Bob Negen of Whizbang! Training taught small format, classroom-style demonstrations for over 80 independent specialty retailers. Gourmet Catalog members received exclusive product education, engaged in in-depth discussions with gourmet housewares vendors and networked with fellow independent retailers, dividing into small groups that rotated to visit each vendor classroom.   Participating vendors included from Breville, Calphalon, The Chef's Toolbox, Edgeware/Smith Abrasives, Joseph Joseph, Jura Capresso, Scanpan, SodaStream, VillaWare, Vitamix and Wusthof.

Gourmet Catalog members, company principals, and manufacturer representatives also networked during the Party in the Kitchen Event in the demonstration kitchen at AmericasMart. Party in the Kitchen sponsors ARG Manufacturers, Ben Talley & Associates, Dugan & Bliss, Envision Home, Lekue, Lifetime Brands, Magefesa, Messermeister, MYdrap, SousVide, tag and Wellness Mats demonstrated new and popular products in the kitchen as stores shopped amongst their showrooms open late for the event.

Gourmet Catalog members will again partner with vendors and AmericasMart for the Gourmet Catalog Start the Year Vendor Showcase and member conference Jan. 11-12, 2013.
