Hong Kong Fairs Attendance Up 8.5 Percent

HONG KONG-Attendance at the Hong Kong Houseware Fair and the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair registered 42,700 attendees, up 8.5 percent over last year.

The two concurrent events, both of which took place April 20-23 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, drew a significant number of buyers from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Japan, Taiwan and the United States, according to a statement from the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, organizer of the two trade fairs. The two shows also attracted more than 2,200 exhibitors, the statement said.

The council put together 124 "buying missions" which consisted of more than 5,700 buyers from around the world to attend both fairs. In addition, a "Small-Order Zone" was set up to showcase products meant for ordering in small quantities. The council said this sector drew 15,000 buyers and generated more than 6,000 business connections.

The two fairs will next take place from April 20-23, 2013.
