Housewares Charity Raises $2 Million for Fourth Straight Year

ROSEMONT, Ill.-The Housewares Charity Foundation raised $2 million for charity for the fourth consecutive year.

HCF's 15th Annual Housewares Charity Foundation Gala was held on March 12 at the Hilton Chicago, during the International Home + Housewares Show. The event included silent and live auctions in which guests bid on a collection of get-aways, dinners, wine experiences, sports and entertainment happenings. Proceeds from the event went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, HCF's legacy charity, along the IIT Institute of Design, the Lynn Sage Comprehensive Breast Center of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the James Beard Foundation.

Honored at this year's event were John Tighe, senior vice president and general merchandise manager of home at J.C. Penney, with the Lifetime Humanitarian Award; Vincent Naccarato, chairman of Molto Capital, with the Lifetime Achievement Award; and Jane and Neil Golub, owners of Price Chopper supermarkets, with the Lifetime Philanthropy Award.

In addition, five James Beard award-winning chefs prepared signature specialities for the dinner for gala attendees. Participating were Michelle Bernstein, host of the PBS TV weekly series "Check Please! South Florida"; Todd English, host of the PBS travel series "Food Trip with Todd English"; Gale Gand, host of PBS' upcoming "Heirloom Recipe Project"; Stephanie Izard, winner of "Top Chef-Season 4"; and Art Smith, founder of Common Threads and former personal chef to Oprah Winfrey.
