The long-standing electrics brand has ventured into the world of beverage making with its new, proprietary line of sparkling beverage makers. Debuting last month, the line is powered by Primo Water carbon dioxide cylinders, part of an agreement between Cuisinart and Primo Water Corp., which offers its own lineup of beverage makers such as the Flavorstation and Liberty models. The Cuisinart collection will be targeted to the brand's traditional retail channels of distribution, which include department stores, specialty stores and their online segments. This agreement gives Cuisinart an additional footprint in beverage making in that the brand will market Primo Water's line of sparkling beverage appliances and related consumables in North America. The Cuisinart/Primo Water partnership comes at a time in which home beverage making is expanding--providing long-term opportunities for both companies. cuisinart.com
The company's Jura brand has extended its reach into milk frothing with the Jura Automatic Milk Frother, its first-ever stand-alone milk frother. The new product is being positioned as a companion piece for the Jura ENA Micro 1, a new automatic coffee center that produces "simply espresso," as a Jura-Capresso statement put it. The Automatic Milk Frother prepares cappuccinos, lattes, hot or cold chocolate, and other milk specialties such as frappes and chai lattes. It comes with a large capacity stainless steel milk pitcher, which can froth up to eight ounces of hot, warm or cold milk. Its design includes a patented frothing disk which provides frothing action for hot or cold drinks in three to four minutes, and a heating disk that provides heated milk without froth. Featuring one-button operation, the Automatic Milk Frother has hot, warm and cold settings with self-explanatory pictograms. Measuring less than five inches square, the product has a footprint that fits in a compact space next to a coffee or espresso machine. us.jura.com
This month, Zojirushi is launching the Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer, which, the company says, "truly is a multitasking appliance." The Micom includes a new steam function, which allows foods to be steamed in the tray while rice is cooking in the bowl below. The new product is equipped with advanced fuzzy logic technology, meaning that its microcomputer makes fine adjustments that work to ensure perfectly cooked rice. Also in the design is a multimenu setting, which includes a brown-rice setting and the steam function. The easy-to-read LCD control panel provides preprogrammed settings for brown rice, sushi, rice porridge, mixed rice and sweet rice. The steaming tray allows the user to steam vegetable, fish or other items. Other parts of the design are a detachable and washable inner lid, two delay timers, a detachable power cord, interchangeable melody and beep signals, automatic and extended keep-warm settings, an inner cooking pan, a spatula and a measuring cup. zojirushi.com
The company is inviting consumers to "be your own barista" with the Model EC860 Pump Espresso Maker. This stainless steel, semi-automatic pump espresso maker includes De'Longhi's patented One Touch System, with which the user slides the milk tank onto the front of the machine and presses the beverage button of his or her choice. The system also includes a clean button, which rinses the tubes of the milk tank with steam. The machine's design prevents milk from mixing with the inside components, making it a hygienic product. It brews with either pods or ground coffee, and includes a patented, dual-function filter holder. The EC860 also has an energy-saving switch, which saves up to 77 percent of the normal energy used for operation. The 35-ounce water tank and the drip tray, which comes with a water level indicator, are both removable for easy cleaning. delonghi.us
