IHA: "Rave" Reviews of Housewares Show
March 28, 2013,
ROSEMONT, Ill.-The International Home + Housewares Show that took place earlier this month garnered "rave" reviews from buyers and sellers, according to the International Housewares Association, which owns and operates the show. The show was sold-out with more than 2,130 exhibitors and rang up an increase in total buyer attendance through its first three days before predictions of heavy snow, the IHA said. The increase included significant growth in international buyer attendance.
"We are hearing very positive feedback from both exhibitors and attendees," said Phil Brandl, president of the International Housewares Association, soon after the show. "The theme of most of our feedback has been focused on innovation with many citing the nearly 500 new exhibitors and thousands of new product innovations from longer term exhibitors.
"This year certainly validated the value of a four-day show to our industry," said Peter Cameron, CEO of Lenox, in a statement issued by the IHA, "especially given the weather forecast that led some attendees to plan an early departure. We got a whole Show's worth of business done regardless of weather and found buyers very appreciative of the extra time on the floor."
The IHA also reported that for the fifth consecutive year, the Housewares Charity Foundation raised more than $2 million for charity. During this year's show the Foundation raised more than $2.1 million during its "Sweet 16" gala on March 4. Proceeds from the event benefited The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the HCF's legacy charity, along with the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and Long Island Cares, Inc.--The Harry Chapin Food Bank.
The next Housewares Show will take place March 15-18, 2014.
