CINCINNATI-Procter & Gamble has appointed Patrice Louvet president of its Global Male Grooming unit.

The move puts Louvet in charge of the company's male-grooming brands, including the Braun line of men's electric grooming products.

He will report to Dimitri Panayotopoulos, vice chairman of Global Business Units. He will succeed Charles V. (Chip) Bergh, who is retiring on Sept. 1 from P&G after 28 years to pursue his aspiration to be CEO of a major company, according to a P&G statement.

Before assuming his new post, Louvet was president of Global Prestige, P&G's fragrances unit. He will be succeeded in this position by Joanne Crewes, vice president of Global SKII and Female Beauty in Australasia, the ASEAN (Southeast Asian) countries, India, Japan and Korea. Both executives will assume their new posts on July 1.
