Remington Debuts i-LIGHT Pro Hair Removal System

MADISON, Wis.-The Remington division of Spectrum Brands has introduced to the U.S. market the i-LIGHT Pro, a light-based hair removal system that has received the approval of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to a Spectrum statement.

The new product uses ProPulse, a trademarked technology Remington formulated in partnership with Shaser BioScience, a global developer of energy-based esthetic dermatology devices for home use. ProPulse disables the growth of hair follicles with laserlike flashes of light that target only the unwanted hair, while protecting the surrounding skin. According to Dr. Jeffrey Dover, co-founder and medical director of Shaser BioScience, the technology has been proven in multisite trials.

The i-LIGHT Pro was initially launched globally in early 2010. According to Drew Fiorenza, Remington's vice president of sales and marketing, the product has achieved sales of 100,000 units since then. In the months ahead, Remington also plans to launch it in Brazil and other Latin American countries.
