FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.-Dan Hige has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of International Bedding.

Hige succeeds Tony Smith, who left the company in August to become Simmons' president of U.S. sales and Simmons Canada. He has assumed charge over International Bedding's sales and operations, and reports to Jeff Maillet, chief executive officer. An 18-year mattress-industry veteran, Hige had been vice president of manufacturing since joining the company in 2008.

In another move, International Bedding has promoted Dennis Strailly vice president of sales, reporting to Hige. In his new role, Strailly oversees all residential and contract sales functions.
