Sealy Reaches License Agreements with American Textile, Downlite

TRINITY, N.C.--Sealy has signed licensing agreements with American Textile Co. and Downlite for basic bedding products to be marketed under Sealy's brands.

Under the terms of these agreements, American Textile will produce mattress and pillow protectors under the Sealy, Sealy Posturepedic and Stearns & Foster brands. Downlite will manufacture down- and synthetic-filled bed pillows, blankets, comforters and sheeting products under the same brands.

Larry Rogers, Sealy's president and CEO, said the two licenses are "consistent with our strategy to grow through licensing and other strategic partnerships."

Crediting the "culture of innovation" at both American Textile and Downlite, Margo Borgione, director of licensing for Sealy, added, "We believe the basic bedding category represents a significant growth opportunity and (we) looked for technology-driven companies with a proven track record in developing and marketing innovative products with high consumer appeal."
