Southerland Strengthens Sales Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-Mattress producer Southerland, Inc. has strengthened its sales management team with the addition of two regional sales executives.

Dan Baker has been named vice president of sales, western division, which includes all states west of the Mississippi River. Baker will manage all of the accounts and the sales representatives based out of the company's Oklahoma and Arizona factories. Baker has more than 20 years of sales management experience in the bedding industry, having worked for companies Natura, International Bedding, Spring Air, and Simmons, according to Scott Miller, executive vice president.

John Clark has been named vice president of sales, eastern division, which includes all states east of the Mississippi River. Clark will manage all of the accounts and the sales representatives based out of the company's Tennessee factory. Clark has more than 30 years of sales management experience, having worked for Boyd Specialty, King Koil, Spring Air and Sealy.

In addition, Chad Davis has been promoted to the newly created position of business development manager. Miller said Davis will assist the western and eastern sales teams in expanding Southerland's business into new territories, help current sales representatives grow their territories and be involved in strategic key accounts in the Midwest.

"Southerland's new open coil and wrapped coil product assortments have generated tremendous interest. With the expected launch our new Specialty Sleep lines and the highly anticipated Sharper Image line this fall, we need to position the company with seasoned executives to lead us into 2012 and beyond," Miller said.
