CHICAGO—This year, Crate and Barrel partnered with Feeding America to help provide meals to people in need, with the goal of supplying one million meals. The campaign ends Dec. 31.

For every dollar donated, Feeding America will provide 11 meals to people facing hunger, which in America is one in eight people.

People who donate will also receive a holiday CD, Let It Glow, featuring soul and jazz singer Sherry Dyanne. “We’re excited to collaborate with Sherry Dyanne, a soul and jazz singer whose retro sound we love,” said Doug Diemoz, CEO, Crate and Barrel. Consumers can listen to Dyanne’s “Christmas is Everywhere” song on its website.

“We are excited to have a seat at the table with Crate and Barrel this holiday season,” said Nancy Curby, interim senior vice president, development, Feeding America. “More than 42 million people in the United States face hunger, including 13 million children. It’s an issue that affects every community in our country.”

Many expected 2016 would be a banner year, but the political and economic climate softened consumer confidence. It was also a year consumers spent more lavishly on home remodeling rather than decorating.
