Jersey Pottery BoleroJersey Pottery's Bolero pattern

FRANKFURT, Germany---Ambiente opened its doors here this morning, and Messe Frankfurt officials are expecting a good show. Board Member Detlef Braun, noting the current economic climate in Germany as positive, said, "The auguries for a successful fair are very good."

The wide expanse of new tabletop product is evident throughout the show. Portmeirion is introducing a dinnerware pattern called Agapanthus, a black and white sketch-like floral with a plain border stripe in either black or gray; a new Sophie Conran Christmas design; and a new floral motif for Botanic Garden--poppy, in commemoration of the start of World War I 100 years ago and available for one year only ... Riedel celebrates 10 years of its O collection with four new, Big Os--oversized stemless cabernet, pinot noir, syrah and champagne glasses--as well as a new co-branded Coca Cola glass, its first non-wine, non-spirit glass designed with the same sensory approach as its other glassware to enhance the flavors of the beverage ... Noritake has introduced a new and playful accent plate for its Broome Street collection and is introducing Orchard Garden, a revival of an archival pattern ... Wedgwood unveiled the Miranda Kerr for Royal Albert collection of dinnerware and giftware--very feminine with pink florals and butterflies ... Jersey Pottery, a family-owned dinnerware company established in 1946, launched Bolero, with a black and white strawberry motif, and Helice (the French word for propeller) in gray on white ... Vista Alegre offered many new dinnerware and giftware patterns, including the contemporary and geometric Orquestra; Olhar Brasil, a brightly colored design with a tropical vibe; Paseo, a new pattern for its Christian Lacroix collection, inspired by the embroidered capes of 19th century bullfighters; Blue Bird, a cobalt and white floral dinnerware design, and giftware pieces that blend both ceramic and crystal elements.--Allison Zisko
