Belk Spring Sale to Help Charities and Schools

CHARLOTTE, N.C.-Belk Inc. is planning to hold a charity sale on May 1, which will benefit local charities, schools and non-profit organizations throughout the department-store retailer's 16-state market.

The sale is scheduled to take place from 6 to 10 a.m. In exchange for a $5 donation, shoppers will receive tickets admitting them to the sale and entitling them to merchandise discounts ranging from 20 percent to 70 percent on items throughout the store, including special savings on rarely discounted brands. Customers will also receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 and more, and Belk card holders will receive double rewards points (triple points for holders of Belk Elite cards) for card purchases.

Participating local charities will sell tickets to the sale in advance of the event, and the proceeds from each $5 ticket will be retained by the charity. Tickets may also be purchased from Belk stores beginning on Friday, April 23, with all in-store ticket sale donations divided among the participating charities and schools in each location.
