Broader Named to Head Walmart EMEA Region

BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Walmart has promoted Shelley Broader, president and CEO of Walmart Canada, to executive vice president, president and CEO of Walmart EMEA.

The move puts Broader in charge of retail operations in Europe, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. She retains her current responsibility over Walmart Canada, and reports to David Cheesewright, president and CEO of Walmart International.

Cheesewright was the previous chief of Walmart EMEA, until he assumed his current post on Feb. 1.

Broader joined Walmart Canada as chief merchandising officer in December 2010, and was named president and CEO of the Canadian operation in September 2011. Prior to joining Walmart, she worked in a number of leadership roles with Michaels and Hannaford Bros.
