Burlington Coat Factory Sales Rise 11.5 Percent in Q2

Burlington Coat FactoryBURLINGTON, N.J.-Second-quarter net sales for Burlington Coat Factory totaled $963.7 million, up 11.5 percent from the second quarter of last year, according to a preliminary report.

Same-store sales in the quarter, which ended on Aug. 3, increased 7.8 percent. For the first half of Burlington Coat Factory's fiscal year, net sales gained 9.8 percent and same-store sales were up 5.5 percent.

Tom Kingsbury, the retailer's CEO, attributed the increases to gains in "a broad range of products, categories and regions." Kingsbury noted that, in last year's second quarter, same-store sales increased 2.9 percent.
