TORONTO-Sears Canada has promoted Douglas Campbell, executive vice president and chief operating officer, to president and CEO of the Canadian multichannel retailer.

In announcing Campbell's appointment, Sears Canada said Calvin McDonald, the previous president and CEO, told the retailer's board that he is resigning "to pursue an opportunity with a leading international company." McDonald was named president and CEO in June 2011, after having served in executive positions with Loblaw Cos.

Campbell joined Sears Canada in March 2011, and was named executive vice president and chief operating officer in November 2012. Prior to coming to Sears Canada, he was a principal with Boston Consulting Group.
