WASHINGTON--Kip Tindell, chairman and chief executive officer of The Container Store, will be honored with the Gold Medal of the National Retail Federation.
The association cited Tindell, who has been head of the storage- and organization-products retailer since its founding in 1978, for maintaining "a fundamental set of corporate values centered around an intense employee commitment, strict merchandising and superior customer service."
Also to be honored by NRF are Glen T. Senk, CEO of Urban Outfitters, with the Retail Innovator of the Year Award; Sir Philip Green, head of Great Britain-based Arcadia Group and BHS, as International Retailer of the Year; and Sheryl Garland, vice president and senior counsel of risk management for Nordstrom, with NRF's Silver Plaque.
The honorees will receive their awards at the NRF Annual Convention and Expo at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City next month.
