Dollar General Names Sparks to Head Store Operations

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn.-Greg Sparks has been appointed executive vice president of store operations for Dollar General.

In his new role, which goes into effect on March 19, Sparks will oversee the dollar-store chain's operations of more than 9,900 stores in 38 states. He will also serve on the company's real-estate and store-development committee. He reports directly to Rick Dreiling, chairman and CEO.

Prior to this appointment, Sparks served as division president of the Seattle division of Safeway. He had been with Safeway for 34 years.
