J.C. Penney Tabs Berman to Lead Marketing

PLANO, Texas-Debra Berman has been named senior vice president of marketing for J.C. Penney.
Berman, who assumed her new post effective last Friday, is responsible for leading the retailer's marketing efforts. She will focus on revitalizing the J.C. Penney brand, building the brand's architecture and communicating the brand's promise. She reports directly to Myron Ullman III, J.C. Penney's CEO.
Prior to this appointment, Berman was vice president of marketing strategy and engagement for Kraft Foods Group. Before joining Kraft in 2009, she served as strategic planning director at DDB Advertising. Her career also includes senior strategy planning roles for Sterling Brands, Young & Rubicam and Swander Pace and Co.
