Kohl's: Sales Lower than Expected in June

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis.-June sales at Kohl's were lower than expectations, the company said today.

For for the five-week month ended June 30, total sales were $1.7 billion, a 2.6 percent decrease from the prior-year period. Comparable store sales decreased 4.2 percent.

"Though June sales were again lower than expectations, we are encouraged by improved sales in the latter weeks of the month as we continued to build inventory levels," said Kevin Mansell, Kohl's chairman, president and CEO. Men's and footwear were the strongest categories, and the Midwest was the strongest region, according to the company.
