Kohl's to Up Hiring More Than 10 Percent This Holiday Season

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis.-Kohl's said it anticipates that it will hire more than 52,700 associates nationwide for the upcoming holiday shopping season, an increase of more than 10 percent over the holiday season of 2011.

This would break out to an average of 41 associates per store for its 1,146 stores in 49 states--a store count that includes 12 new stores slated to open at the end of September. In addition, the retailer said it anticipates hiring about 5,700 seasonal staff at its distribution centers and more than 30 seasonal credit-operation personnel.

A Kohl's statement said the increase in holiday-season positions is needed "to support our holiday business in stores and growth in e-commerce in 2012." Hiring at the distribution centers actually began in August, Kohl's said.
