NEW YORK-Fourteen Macy's stores will remain open all day, every day beginning tomorrow and ending 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Half of the stores are located in the New York/New Jersey metro area; the remainder are in the greater Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia metro areas, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and Minnesota. Macy's has offered 24-hour shopping in limited locations for the past five years, according to the company. Nine additional stores will be open until 2 a.m.

"Shoppers have Macy's at the top of their list as the department store to go to for holiday gifts," said Ron Klein, chief stores officer, in a statement. "By being open 24 hours at 14 key city locations and extending store hours at another nine, last minute shoppers get extra time to shop and the added bonus of shorter lines, less crowds, and for those in high traffic locations, the ease of parking."
