LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-R. Brad Martin, the former chairman of Saks Inc. who now serves on the board of Dillards, will leave the board next month.

A Dillards statement said Martin informed the board that he will not stand for re-election at the stockholders annual meeting, scheduled for May 18. The statement said Martin, who has served on the board since 2008, has accepted an unspecified leadership position "which will require a significant time commitment."

Currently, Martin is chairman of RBM Venture Co. He headed Saks and one of its predecessor businesses, Proffitt's, from 1989 until his retirement in 2007.
