Michael McDonald to Headline Icon Honors Gala

ATLANTA-Five-time Grammy-winner Michael McDonald will take the spotlight as the headlining performer at the inaugural Icon Honors awards celebration, July 17, in conjunction with the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market. 


McDonald has been a fixture in American pop music for more than three decades with hits such as "I Keep Forgettin'," "Yah Mo B There," and "On My Own." His first stint with fame came from his role in Steely Dan, followed by award-winning songs and performances with the Doobie Brothers. 


"Michael McDonald is a renowned musician loved by all generations," said Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., AmericasMart president and chief operating officer. "He has had a significant impact on the music world and will help us celebrate those that have had a positive impact on our industry. It is an honor to have a legend like Michael on our stage for the first Honors awards program."  


Following McDonald's performance, there will be a keynote address by a celebrated retailer and the anticipated awards presentation, honoring retailers, product manufactures, sales agencies in 18 individual categories. 


Created exclusively by AmericasMart Atlanta in collaboration with GHTA and HFN, Icon Honors is the first international program fully embracing the gift and home categories in an independent recognition of exemplary achievement across the industry triumvirate:  product manufacturing, product sales representative businesses and retailing.
