NRF Tabs Davis to Lead NRF Foundation

WASHINGTON-Ellen Davis has been named senior vice president and executive director of the NRF Foundation, the education and research arm of the National Retail Federation.

In her new role, Davis is responsible for restructuring the foundation to more closely align with NRF's strategic plan. This includes taking the organization's Retail Means Jobs campaign to the next level by emphasizing retail's contributions to the U.S. economy and the diverse career opportunities available in the industry. She also oversees a team that managed NRF's research projects, professional and retail certification and training programs, initiatives to develop new retail leaders and university partnerships. In addition, Davis continues to serve as a chief spokeswoman for NRF on industry trends.

Davis' career with NRF began in 2002, when she became manager of media relations. She was named vice president in 2008. During her tenure, she has led lead the team responsible for NRF consumer research and industry trends and NRF communications vehicles including social media, NRF SmartBrief and Retail's BIG Blog. She also played a key role in implementing the Retail Means Jobs campaign.

As an NRF spokeswoman, Davis has appeared on broadcast media and in print publications. In a statement, NRF credited her with coining the phrase "Cyber Monday," now considered the official kickoff to the online holiday shopping season.
