Plugging In at CES
January 7, 2010,
The 2010 International CES, the world's largest trade show for consumer technology, returns to Las Vegas this month with an eye toward lifestyle.
As usual, thousands of items featuring cutting edge technology will fill the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The 2010 International CES will feature more than 2,500 exhibitors and an expected 110,000 attendees from 140 countries. The show, scheduled for Jan. 7-10, will showcase some 20,000 new products across 30 different technology categories.
Some of the biggest trends expected at the show are mobile applications, features for the iPhone, "green" technology and software.
"CES is the place where people at the epicenter of technology share their products and services," said Robin Raskin, president and founder of Living in Digital Times. "Taking a look at the industry through the lens of lifestyle lets us look at some of the hot trends: distance learning, mommy bloggers, Internet safety, new user interfaces, mobile kids, aging in place, digital health records and more."
CES is hosting three conference programs targeting lifestyle of consumers/end users: Digital Health Conference, Higher Ed Tech Conference and the Mommy Tech Conference.
Digital Health will focus on the emerging market of digital health and wellness devices, related applications and services, and will address consumers and B-to-B spending on health-related products. HigherEd Tech will discuss mobile devices, netbooks and smartboards as it studies the changing face of higher education.
Mommy Tech will focus on the latest technology trends aimed at the $90 million "mommy market."
Living in Digital Times will be located in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Additional TechZones, located throughout the Convention Center, will highlight the latest in 3D Technology, Digital Health, eBooks, Netbooks and Robotics.
Also at the show, The Sustainable Planet CE Spotlight, an exhibit area featuring technologies and services that benefit the environment, will increase by more than 40 percent from last year's show. Sustainable Planet, located in the North Hall, will feature more than 30 exhibitors focused on product advancements in green building, sustainable packaging, automotive, wireless and alternative energy technologies across 5,500 net square feet of exhibit space.
Other attractions at the 2010 CES include: The Gaming Showcase featuring hardware and software with the entire range of consumer electronics products--from online PC and HD gaming, plasma HDTV and home theater furniture to surround sound and power conditioning hardware; and Location Based Services, which includes the Safe Driver TechZone, for in-car navigation devices.
