Shoppers Look to Buy More Home Furnishings 2011
January 4, 2011,
COLUMBUS, Ohio-U.S. consumers are planning to buy more home furnishings this year, according to a report from Kantar Retail.
The research firm's monthly ShopperScape update said 35 percent of shoppers surveyed in October are either very or somewhat likely to buy home furnishings in the New Year, up from 30 percent in the same survey conducted in October 2009. The biggest jump in buying plans emerged from generation-Y consumers, whose likelihood of buying home furnishings jumped from 12 percent last year to 22 percent this year. Most of these purchases will go toward furnishings for either the bedroom or the living room, the ShopperScape report said.
