Target Website Crashes ... Again

MINNEAPOLIS--Target's website, target.com, crashed yesterday for about two and a half hours, during the midday--slightly more than a month since its last crash.

Confirming that the website was down, Lee Henderson, spokesman for the mass-merchant retailer, did not provide a reason for the crash. "Target strives to deliver an exceptional guest experience in our stores and online, and we regret the inconvenience to our guests," Henderson said.

In September, Target's website crashed following the launch of the Missoni for Target line of apparel, accessories and home products. The company attributed that crash to the "overwhelming demand" for the line.

Earlier this month, Steve Eastman, president of target.com, left the company. Target said his departure was unrelated to the crash stemming from the Missoni for Target launch.
