Walmart Charitable Giving Totaled $467 Million in Fiscal 2010

BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Charitable giving by Walmart was $467 million in both cash and in-kind gifts for its 2010 fiscal year, which ended Jan. 31, the retailer said.
This marked an increase of $89 million over its charitable-gifts total in fiscal 2009, and included $45 million in cash and in-kind gifts in international markets. In the United States, Walmart increased donations of food by 81 million pounds in fiscal 2010 over the prior year. Walmart associates also donated more than 1.5 million volunteer hours in this country, a 25 percent increase over fiscal 2009.
