Walmart to Host U.S. Manufacturing Summit on Aug. 22

BENTONVILLE, Ark.-Building on its effort to fuel increased U.S. manufacturing, Walmart will host a U.S. manufacturing summit in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 22.
The retailer plans to bring 1,500 people, which will include representatives from more than 500 supplier companies and retail industry executives. Government officials will also be present, including Gov. Mike Beebe of Arkansas, Gov. Phil Bryant of Mississippi, Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina, Gov. Paul LePage of Maine, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, Gov. C.L. Otter of Idaho, Gov. Rick Scott of Fla., and Gov. Early Ray Tomblin of West Virginia; Penny Pritzker, secretary of commerce; and Richard Fisher, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
Among the executives who will be present are Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and CEO of GE; Vlad Kazhdan, vice president of product merchandising for Element Electronics; Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani; H. Kim Kelley, chairman and CEO of Hampton Products International; Bud Kilby, president and CEO of Renfro; and Kevin Toomey, president and CEO of Kayser-Roth.
