April High Point Market Opens Today

HIGH POINT, N.C.-The High Point Market opens today, with the newest wave of furniture, lighting, rugs and home decor products unveiled to the industry.

New collections include Lexington Home Brands' Henry Link Trading Co., a brand that has global influences and uses such materials as specialty veneers, marble, penn shell, embossed leather, aged metal, bamboo, rattan, and exotic skins.

Several companies are debuting new licensed lines. The Biltmore For Your Home brand recently paired up with Dimond Lighting, a division of E.L.K. Lighting, and is showing a portable lighting line in the International Home Furnishings Center. Designer Raymond Waites is back with a new license, with rug manufacturer Jaipur Rugs. That line is being shown in Jaipur's showroom in Showplace. And Global Views is unveiling DwellStudio, an eclectic line of modern accessories with the textiles company.

At the Suites at Market Square, the Artisan Gallery is debuting an eclectic mix of sophisticated pieces including furniture, wall art, sculpture, pottery and unique decorative accessories.

Bedding industry non-profit WorldBed is accepting donations during market to fund the delivery of emergency beds to Japan to aid earthquake survivors. The Specialty Sleep Association, located in the IHFC, has donated space to WorldBed to assist in the effort.

From noon to 3 p.m. today, Paula Deen will been in the Universal showroom to meet with attendees and show her new line of furniture.

Later on today, the Phillips Collection will hold its traditional industry mixer at 4:30 in its IHFC showroom.

The show runs through Thursday, April 7.
