Jaipur Foundation Wins Indian Social Impact Award

ATLANTA-Jaipur Rugs Foundation was recently recognized for its work with artisans with an Social Impact Award, given by The Times of India and in conjunction with J.P. Morgan. The awards program honors companies that work to help improve the lives of people in India and is given in the categories of education, health, livelihoods, environment and empowerment and advocacy. Jaipur's award was in the livelihood category.
In a statement, India's president Pranab Mukherjee said it is good the media has "made a conscious effort to highlight the positive, the best was is what The Times Of India has done--identified those individuals and organizations who silently contribute for the betterment of society."
Founded in 2004, the Jaipur Rugs Foundation is a field-based organization that affects more than 50,000 artisans at the grassroots level, giving them carpet weave training, access to health and education programs and more.
