LAS VEGAS-There was more for the floor last week, as rug manufacturers debuted their latest designs at Las Vegas Market, showcasing their newest products and partnerships.

Stripes were strong and among Rizzy Home's introductions was the stripe-focused Swing. In addition, responding to the market's love of color, "we tried to do brighter colors for this market," said Al Mortensen, director of creative and design. Another new line, Twist, was a double dhurrie that "gives it a bit more weight," he added.

The outdoor category continues to be on fire. Capel expanded its indoor/outdoor rug offerings with Thailand, an olefin group of three patterns, each in two colorways. Made in Belgium, the line has an aggressive price point, said Tami Watras, vice-president, product and creative director.

Sphinx by Oriental Weavers focused on tribal and Southwestern looks with the new Marrakesh line. In hues such as off-white, brown and blueish gray, the line has a high pile and is made of polypropylene in Egypt.

Dynamic Rugs continued to expand in viscose at market, debuting its Heritage collection. Unlike other companies that focus on traditional looks in viscose, Dynamic offers contemporary and transitional looks in that fiber, said Matthew Rouhanian, president. The process used to make the rugs in Turkey is also peel resistant, a common problem with viscose rugs, he added. In addition, the line offers new color creels, in lavender and reddish tones.

At Linon Home Products, new collections include Silhouette, a wool hooked line that offers nine geometric designs in nine fashion colors. Hand crafted in Thessaloniki, Greece, the new Salonika line includes such designs as chevron, houndstooth and ikat and is 100 percent wool and reversible.

But for several companies, rugs were not the only thing offered on the menu. Surya expanded into space across from its showroom and filled it with poufs and pillows. They included the company's new outdoor pouf and pillow collection, as well as pillows in bright neon colors and poufs in animal skins.

Safavieh debuted its mirrors and wall candle holders at market, about 100 skus strong, said Jonathan Yaraghi, furniture manager. The addition was due to "customer demands," he said. Overall, the company has 30,000 SKUs, and the new mirrors and wall decor bring "another element to customers."

Artist John Beard debuted at market with his line of original acrylic paintings. Showing in Jaipur's showroom, Beard's line crosses a number of design styles, from abstract to farm scenes to geometrics and is made in the U.S.
